Project Toolbench builds free browser-based tools for measuring, estimating, budgeting, and planning material purchases for home projects.
A useful project calculator should do more than return one number. It should show the units, formula, intermediate values, rounding, optional purchase quantity, and assumptions that affect the result.
The current pilot begins with landscaping material volume because the task can be explained, tested, and kept separate from structural design advice.
Each page must help complete a distinct project task. We do not publish separate pages just for unit or wording variations.
Prices, density, packaging, and extra material are entered by the user when no reliable universal value exists.
Formulas, examples, conversions, and assumptions appear beside the calculator and use the same calculation logic.
Material estimates are separated from structural, code, gardening, engineering, or contractor decisions.
Project Toolbench currently publishes one working calculator: the Topsoil Calculator. The site does not yet publish advertisements, affiliate links, user accounts, real-time prices, or supplier inventory.
Future tools may cover adjacent home project tasks, but appearing in a research roadmap does not mean a page is available or approved for publication.
